Our Story

NC Foothills Jeep Tours is a family-run business built on a shared love for Jeeps, adventure, and the great outdoors.

For as long as we can remember, our family has been passionate about exploring the mountains and backroads of North Carolina. There is something special about loading up a Jeep, heading down a trail, and discovering places that most people never get the chance to see. Over the years, we spent countless weekends exploring forest roads, scenic overlooks, mountain trails, and hidden backcountry destinations throughout our beautiful state.

Along the way, we realized something.

Many people want to experience the beauty and excitement of North Carolina's mountains, but they don't own an off-road vehicle, don't know where to go, or simply don't feel comfortable venturing into the backcountry on their own.

That's why we started NC Foothills Jeep Tours.

Our mission is simple: to share our passion for the outdoors and create unforgettable adventures for families, friends, and fellow explorers. We want our guests to experience the breathtaking views, rugged trails, and hidden places that made us fall in love with North Carolina in the first place.

As a family-run business, we take pride in offering a personal experience. When you ride with us, you're not just booking a tour — you're joining a family that loves the outdoors and enjoys sharing that passion with others. Whether you're looking for a scenic mountain adventure or an exciting off-road experience, we're committed to making your trip safe, memorable, and fun.

At NC Foothills Jeep Tours, we're more than guides — we're outdoor enthusiasts, Jeep lovers, and a family that believes some of life's best memories are made beyond the pavement.

We look forward to sharing the adventure with you and showing you a side of North Carolina that few people ever get to experience.

See you on the trail,

Paul was an awesome guide. The Jeep was clean and very comfortable, and he even provided bottled water and chips for everyone. The best part was that he welcomed our two small dogs, so the whole family got to enjoy the trip. Highly recommend.

Before You Go

Common Questions

Everything you need to know about planning your North Carolina High Country Jeep adventure.

What is a guided Jeep tour and what should I expect?

A guided Jeep tour is a private off-road excursion where a local guide drives you beyond the pavement to overlooks, forest roads, creek crossings, and backcountry destinations most visitors never reach. You ride in a comfortable Jeep with real factory seats and seat belts — no exposed safari benches — while your guide handles the driving, the route, and the storytelling. Just bring a camera and your sense of adventure.

Do you offer winery and brewery tours?

Yes — they're two of our most popular tours. The Winery Backroad Tour takes you along scenic mountain backroads to Linville Falls Winery and includes one complimentary wine flight with every booking. The Brewery Backroad Tour heads to Fonta Flora Brewery at Whippoorwill Farm near Lake James for handcrafted beer, food, and incredible mountain views. We do all the driving, so everyone in your group can relax and enjoy.

What is the Wilson Creek Adventure Tour?

The Wilson Creek Adventure Tour follows mountain highways and unpaved forest roads to Wilson Creek, one of the region's most beautiful mountain destinations, where you can wade in or jump into the crystal-clear water on warm days. Along the way we stop at historic Coffey's General Store & Museum, founded in 1895 — one of North Carolina's oldest country stores.

Are your Jeep tours family friendly and good for kids?

Yes. Our tours are one of the most popular family activities in the North Carolina High Country. Because every tour is private to your group and rides in enclosed Jeeps with factory seat belts, they're comfortable and safe for kids, parents, and grandparents alike. We tailor the pace to your crew — from relaxed scenic and winery rides to more adventurous backcountry routes.

Where are your tours located and what's nearby?

We operate in North Carolina's High Country and foothills, near Boone and Blowing Rock in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We're an easy add-on to a Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, or Linville trip and a popular day trip for visitors staying near Asheville, Charlotte, or along the Blue Ridge Parkway looking for things to do on the East Coast.

Do I need any off-road or four-wheel-drive experience?

None at all. Your professional local guide does all the driving, so you can simply relax and enjoy the views. From easygoing scenic and winery rides to more rugged backcountry routes, we tailor the route and the pace to your group — no off-road or four-wheel-drive experience required.

When is the best time of year to take a tour?

Tours run in every season. Late September through October brings spectacular fall foliage and is our busiest window, so reserve early during fall color season. Spring and summer offer lush green trails, creek swims, and cooler mountain temperatures, while winter delivers crisp, wide-open views. We watch conditions closely and build each day around the best the mountains are offering.

How long are the tours, how much do they cost, and how do I book?

Tours run from a 3–4 hour introductory adventure up to a full day, priced per Jeep rather than per person. The Guided Jeep Adventure is $399, the Winery and Brewery Backroad Tours are $449 each, and the Wilson Creek Adventure Tour is $489 — every Jeep seats up to four guests. (Our full-day Hurricane Creek Experience is temporarily unavailable while roads are repaired after Hurricane Helene.) Reserve online through our booking widget or call us at 828-414-1056, and we'll confirm availability within 24 hours.

Can you do private tours for special occasions or large groups?

Absolutely. Every tour is already private to just your group — no strangers riding along. We regularly host birthdays, anniversaries, proposals, family reunions, and corporate outings, and we'll build a custom excursion around exactly what you're after. Call us and we'll plan the perfect day.
